Why do I need a consultant if I’m doing the planning?
Do you remember that high school or college class in which the teacher gave you all the information you needed, and you were supposed to do your own homework or research, and then take an exam? Of course you do---it happened in all classes! But, there was always a subject or two in which it didn’t matter that you had the information and you knew what to do next, you still needed help completing the assignment or needed cues to remember the info for the test.
Same thing with planning a wedding: you have the information, you know what you have to do (if you don’t, then you DEFINITELY need a consultant!), but there are SO MANY details involved that you can get overwhelmed. Even if you seem to have everything in order, you will be stressed out---no doubt about it.
Having a Friend to be there beside you, at any point along the way, will help relieve the stress. More importantly is that Friend of the Bride consultant services will guide you through the particulars that no one else will tell you about.
“That custom-designed purple embroidery will make your gown unique”---
Yes, it will, but it will look more like you spilled wine on it.
“You get a discounted price for a 3:00 Friday wedding."
True...but you will also have no guests because they’ll be at work.
“We have grown these bushes to enclose our outdoor ceremony site and keep it from the general public’s view”---
Yes, but the guests can’t find it either.
“I’m your mother, and I wish to plan this with you.”
This may or may not work. If it doesn't, either the bride or the mother will need help from me to keep things pleasant! If it DOES work out, you will both be unavailable on the wedding day to oversee the final details, and that's when you will need my assistance.
You should have fun planning, and you should enjoy your special day when it finally arrives. Don’t be afraid to ask for help…from a Friend.
